As summer vacation comes to a close, we spontaneously decided to take one last road trip to a place that has been on my bucket list for a while – Magnolia Market and Silos in Waco, Texas. You can find out more about Magnolia Market here.
A few months ago when I found out we were moving to Texas, the first thought in my mind was “Chip and Joanna Gaines!” 😂 As a huge fan of their hit show, Fixer Upper, I couldn’t wait to visit the Magnolia Market.
After the crazy busy summer we had, Hubs and I chose to make one last family road trip before we get back into the routine of work and school. We were finally on our way to Magnolia Market.
Fortunately for me, Waco is only a one-hour drive from our home – so we decided to make it a day trip and spend the afternoon there as a family.
There is a free parking lot that’s connected to the Silos; the entrance is on 8th street. We chose to park on 8th street, but you can also park for free downtown and take a 10-minute ride to the Silos on the trolley.
When we arrived early afternoon, the Texas heat had already skyrocketed to a blazing 106 degrees outside! If you choose to visit during the summer months as we did, be mindful of the Texas heat and humidity! There are water stations around the grounds to help keep you hydrated.
Because of the popularity of the store, I would suggest visiting early when the store first opens, or choose to come later in the day before they close. Magnolia Markets get thousands of visitors each day, and the store gets packed and the lines get long. We waited for 15 minutes to enter the bakery, and the lines to purchase items from the market had an even longer wait time.
The markets are open Monday through Saturday, 9 am – 6 pm and most busy around lunchtime.
The grounds, markets, and Silos are closed on Sundays.
In addition to the beautiful scenery, there are also tasty food options to enjoy at the Silos. Along the market grounds, there are food trucks available for you to buy pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, crepes, and more.
If you want to experience the Magnolia restaurant, you will have to drive or catch the trolley over for a dine-in experience.
The Magnolia restaurant is located about 2.5 miles away from the Markets.
The restaurant is open from 6am-3pm every day and closed on Sunday.
If you aren’t in the mood for food, but instead would like to enjoy a sweet treat, the Silos Bakery has you covered. Our Princess ordered a delicious strawberry cupcake that I gladly helped her to finish.
Come prepared to shop.
In addition to the tasty food options, there are lots of opportunities to shop ’till you drop. Be warned, when you enter the markets, you will want to buy EVERYTHING. Magnolia Market offers home decor items for every room just as beautiful as the ones you see on tv and in magazines. There are also T-shirts, jewelry, handbags, and more.
Magnolia Market and Silos is a great place to spend the afternoon. Despite the blazing heat, we had a great time! We had fun walking around taking pictures, browsing, and eating sweet treats. After about an hour and a half, (and one last picture) we wrapped up our trip and headed back home. 🙂
