With every new season, I like to clean, declutter, and re-decorate each room in our home. The minimalist aesthetic is my go-to design style when it comes to home decor. I love the look of open spaces, clean lines, and simple patterns to create an aesthetically pleasing minimalist space. This spring, I decided to give my Mom-Cave a makeover, and All Modern partnered with me to make it happen.
My Mom Cave doubles as a home office, and frankly, it was time for an overhaul of my messy and disorganized room. All Modern was kind enough to gift me a few home decor pieces to help give my space a much-needed makeover. To redesign my minimalist space for spring, I stripped my home office of all its clutter down to my minimalist essentials, creating an organized yet comfy space that I can use to be productive or just relax and enjoy.

To create my minimalist space, I first got rid of all the clutter that had accumulated in my home office. From the kids’ virtual learning classes to my husband’s multiple daily Zoom meetings, every person in our home uses my home office at least once a day. With all of the paper, office supplies, books, and toys and coming and going in this room, decluttering this space was my first priority to create a minimalist space that we could actually use.

My New Minimalist Space
I began my room makeover by cleaning, decluttering, and getting rid of (and donated) everything I didn’t need. After I got rid of all of my unnecessary junk, I neatly organized the things I decided to keep. I am an avid reader, and I own lots of books. My first gifted piece from All Modern was this beautiful 31′ Ladder bookcase to help organize and display my books. Because I have such an extensive book collection, I’ve been wanting an aesthetically pleasing bookshelf for the longest time. This gorgeous bookshelf has easily become a statement piece and the new focal point of my home office.

Ambient Lighting to Set the Mood
My Mom Cave doubles as my home office and reading space. I spend most of my day reading and writing, so good lighting was a must-have in my minimalist space. This 10.25″ Table Lamp was the perfect addition to my home office as it is functional and stylish. This bright globe light looks great displayed on my bookshelf or on my desk. Its glass globe shape diffuses bright light for a calm and ambient atmosphere, (which I absolutely love!) while illuminating the entire room.

To finish designing my minimalist space, I added a few faux plants, wall art, comfy blankets, and a faux fur rug (all items that I already owned!) to give the room a comfy yet glamorous feel. Now that my final design has all come together, I can confidently say that my minimalist space makeover was a success!
Designing Your Own Minimalist Space
If you are interested in designing your own minimalist space in your home, here’s how you can do it:
- Clear your space of all unnecessary clutter. Minimalist design is based on the bare essentials. Select the most important items you want to keep in your room, and get rid of or donate any items that you no longer use, want, or need.
- Choose a color palette you love. Determine 3-4 colors that you want to use to design your space, and start choosing furniture pieces and art that fit your color palette.
- Shop quality furniture pieces that will last. I chose my home decor pieces from All Modern.
- Accessorize your space! Even in a minimalist space, simple accessories can bring life to an otherwise boring room. Collect pillows, rugs, wall art, plants, candles, and other design elements from other areas of your home to decorate your space. You don’t have to buy anything new, use what you have!

I hope you enjoyed my minimalist space makeover! Thank you All Modern for sponsoring this post!
Until next time!
Sincerely, Victoria
